In 1988, Alok Kumar Jalan founded Jalan Financial Services on a simple observation: Kolkata's business families needed someone to handle their investments with the same care they applied to their own businesses - personally, discreetly, and for the long term.
For nearly four decades he built the firm on that idea, relationship by relationship, almost entirely by referral - into a practice serving more than 400 families, many of whom have stayed across market cycles, business transitions and generational change.
Today, Shasank Jalan leads the firm's day-to-day operations - carrying forward the relationships his father began and the standards he set, with a dedicated back office and the discipline of doing things properly: documentation first, execution on time, and reporting you never have to chase.
How we work
We are an AMFI-registered mutual fund distributor. Every relationship is handled by the people whose names you know, supported by a back office that processes transactions, tracks paperwork and answers the phone.
Portfolios are reported through your dedicated digital portfolio platform - the same consolidated statements, on the web and on your phone, that our families have relied on for years: every holding, transaction and allocation in one place, updated automatically.
We coordinate readily with each family's own advisers - their lawyers, their accountants, their bankers - because family money is rarely one person's job.
